The train ride to Monte Carlo was a two parter. The first was from the Porta Nuova station in Turin to Genova Piazza Principe. That was two and a half hours. Spent it surfing the web on my phone and having some in-train coffee.
When I got to the Genova station, I really had to pee, so I looked for the bathroom, and when I got there, I found this:

That's right. One Euro to go pee. Annoying as hell, but I'm thinking this is planned. In some trains in Italy there's no bathroom, so you hold it until you get to your station and then cough up whatever money you're asked in order to relieve yourself. Fine. Whatever.
I get on the train from Genova to Niece. I, of course, get off at Monte Carlo station, just shy of Niece. On the way, I can't move my eyes from the sight of a beautiful girl sitting a few seats away from me. Just before I get off, I muster up the courage, walk over, and tell her I think she's beautiful. She smiles and thanks me. I'm in Monte Carlo now. Hello, French Riviera!

Problem is, I get no cell reception and no internet when I get there. Not sure why. So now I need to find the apartment on my own. Luckily, I have the address marked offline on my phone and start making my way on foot. I didn't realize it at the beginning, but it was going to be a lot of walking, and at an upward angle. It's exhausting. Only minor fragments of internet reception on the way up. At least I get to enjoy the view. Monte Carlo really is a treat to behold.

It really seems the designers of this city just thought to themselves: "Now how can we shove more and more businesses into the smallest space possible without looking insane?"
Still, it works.

I finally get to the apartment. It's small. Just a bed, a small kitchen and bathroom. I had to plug in the fridge for it to work, and it was completely empty. Have to stock some things on my own, and I have no idea where the nearest grocery store is.
But before that, I want to see Monte Carlo as much as I possibly can cram into the 24 hours I'm there. Took a few videos and snaps to convey the atmosphere of walking around the French Riviera.
That's it for part 4. Stay tuned. This is far from over.
